PRINCE ALBERT — If you have attended a diocesan synod or been on executive or finance committees in the diocese, you will know who Don Code was. He was the person who presented the financial statements to the delegates who attended synods, which would be about eight synods.

Don passed away on July 24 at age 73 with his faithful wife Colleen by his side, after an illness of cancer.

Don had done a lot of work for the diocese since 1993, when he first became the treasurer for the diocese under Bishop Tony Burton. He was the chairman of the selection committee when Michael Hawkins was elected.

Even though he was beginning the journey that ended his life, he still came in once a week to help the archdeacon with the financial side of running the diocese when Bishop Hawkins had to retire due to his illness.

Code belonged to St. David’s Church in Prince Albert and was chairman of their vestry for 10 years. He received the Order of Saskatchewan in 2014 for his duty to his Church and the diocese.

Anyone who knew Don will remember a kind and thoughtful man who was always there when you needed him. He will be sadly missed by all who experienced his dry sense of humour and devotion to his wife and family. Please pray for his wife Colleen, son Paget, daughter Jillian and their children in their sad time.

Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
