Ironically, two editors did a story on an event in Leask entitled “One night, One Community, Infinite Kindness in small and simple acts.” Both newspapers, this one and the Shellbrook Chronicle, reported the event as a “fundraiser.”
The primary purpose of the get-together in the Leask Legion Hall was to promote community. They did receive donations from the Anglican Foundation and from SUMA, which enabled them to put on a night of fun and camaraderie, inviting the whole community for a potluck meal and a dance and door prizes.
There was no admission charge for anything; everything was FREE, which is unusual these days. It was a great success and they plan something similar in the fall.
